| The Blueberry Festival was a big success. We hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did. The Blueberry Dessert Contest was yet again a very tough competition. Only four points separated first place from fourth place. The winner's recipes are posted below. The recipes will be posted for about one week, and then new ones will be posted. |

Southern Double Blueberry Cake Temptation
1 3/4 cups all- purpose flour
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup fresh blueberries
2 large eggs
1/2 cup blueberry jam
2/3 cup milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
5 tablespoons butter, melted
Combine 1/4 teaspoon of granulated sugar & 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon to sprinkle on top of cake
***All ingredients were doubled because of the 9x12 rectangular pan used.
Preparation:
1) Grease and flour a 9 x 12 rectangular pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2) In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients, flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and all
spices; stir to blend in well.
3) Wash and clean the blueberries and gently stir into the dry ingredients.
4) In a separate mixing bowl whisk or beat the eggs with the blueberry jam, milk,
vanilla, and melted butter. Stir in the dry ingredients until well blended.
5) Spoon into the prepared pan and add the combined sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle it on top of the mixture and with a fork gently swirl in the top of the batter. Bake for 30-45 minutes until a cake tester or toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let it cool on a cake rack before cutting!!!
